In order to provide quality education, it is essential to use appropriate educational
resources. In the teaching process, it is especially important to raise the
motivation of students. The use of educational resources plays an important
role in this direction. during learning process, it is necessary to use a
variety of educational resources, it is beneficial for both teachers and students.
In 2020, in Georgia, within the framework of a new
educational project in 2020, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education
and Science, the Education Coalition, and the support of the United Nations
Children's Fund, the first bank of complex tasks was created and placed on ELG.
Since 2015, the Educare organization
has been working on the implementation of the Khan Academy. ka.khanacademy.org.
More than 5,200 video lessons and thousands of exercises and articles in
mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, cosmology and astronomy, electrical
engineering, and computer science have been translated. The same organization
launched code.org.
In 2020–2021, CK12 elementary and
middle school textbooks and other resources in STEM fields (math, physics,
chemistry, and biology) were translated. This project is implemented by the
Education Coalition (see https://ck12.edu.ge/). the pandemic period gave
teachers motivation to create learning
resources. In this period , a lot of teachers was involved not only in using
electronic resources but also in creating them. In a short time teachers manage to use Microsoft Teams and create and share video tutorials, share
digital resources for teaching. These teachers soon managed to interest their colleagues and involved them in this field. I want to mention that
resources created by teachers are popular among colleagues.
As for access to digital resources,
there are no research in my country, Georgia, that is about the development and
use of digital resources. Along with the development of digital resources, it
is important to solve the problem of students' and teachers' access to digital
resources. As the experience of the pandemic has shown, digital resources are
not available for at least a tenth of students. The problem of access to the
Internet and computer equipment is relevant for some teachers as well.
In the 21st century, information
technologies have an important role in general educational institutions for the
proper management of the educational process and for improving the learning
process of students. Therefore, there are many innovations and serious
challenges for teachers and students, which are difficult to solve and a
difficult requires a lot of effort.
As a result of using modern
technologies:
• More students are involved in the
learning process;
• The teaching process goes beyond the
classroom;
• Students will increase their
technical knowledge;
• The teaching process becomes more
manageable;
• The traditional teaching environment
is replaced by a digital environment;
• Teaching becomes more interactive;
• Students actively participate in the
teaching process, do research, and
choose the form of teaching themselves.
Due to the scale of the development of
modern technologies, it is easy to find a large amount of material on the
Internet, so it is important to find a reliable and trustworthy source. In
order to find reliable information on the Internet, it is preferable to turn to
the websites of educational and governmental institutions and scientific
electronic databases. For this purpose, I would like to share with you the
experience of using the Google Cultural Institute website of the world's most
popular and large-scale artistic association in the educational process. The
World Arts and Culture Online Platform is located at the following web address:
artsandculture.google.com.
In 2011, Google established the most
popular and large-scale online art platform, a kind of exhibition space that
houses more than 2,000 museum treasures. The Google Arts & Culture team
helps partners digitize, manage, and publish their collections. The site offers
access to museums as well as real-world sites with images from Google
databases, allowing virtual tours of places such as art installations and the
Scientific Center at CERN. The website offers written content, news about
museums and galleries, and suggestions for other places of interest. Some of
the artifacts are accompanied by a story, which makes the exhibition alive .
From an educational perspective, using
a platform accessible from the classroom, discover the latest technology and see
performing arts at the Paris Opera, NASA's stunning image archive, and discover
stories about our cultural heritage. Most importantly, teachers are able to use
the platform effectively in distance learning, allowing students to explore the
real collections of museums and galleries using a digital device. Everything on
the website is well organized and laid out in a way that is easy to understand
and navigate, which is a great option for students to learn even when they are
not at school. Google Arts & Culture
is available in a web browser but also works well as an iOS and Android app, so
students can access it from their smartphones as well. The app is free to
download and use, just like the website. For teachers, there are useful
bookmarking and sharing features that allow you to save favorite pages, take a
link to a particular exhibit, and share it with the class. It is Ideal if you want them to study or research a
topic at home before class or vice versa, to prepare for later research and
homework in class.
From the website of Google Arts &
Culture, it is possible to organize a virtual tour of the famous museums in the
world. Virtual museums are an important educational resource, giving you the
opportunity to experience virtual reality. View and explore paintings,
sculptures, and architectural examples. A virtual tour is a three-dimensional
scene placed on the Internet that gives us the opportunity to get an idea of a
real object. The created model can be moved virtually. Virtual tours, of
course, cannot completely replace real tours, but they are the best way to get
to know dream places at any time. Another advantage of such excursions is the
opportunity to find a variety of visual materials and broaden the worldview of
students, and it also makes the lessons more lively and interesting.
Google Arts & Culture has many
possibilities: the function of chronologically sorting samples of world art from
different eras; a means of turning a
work of art into another current style; the possibility of virtual viewing of
world-famous cities; architectural samples; material depicting the works of
famous artists; and also offering interactive experiments and educational
cognitive games. A collection of more than 1600 experiments is placed on the
website.
In 2021, due to the pandemic caused by
COVID 19, in order to increase the accessibility of electronic educational
resources for distance learning, the website added the topic "Learn with
Google Arts and Culture for Teachers and Parents." You can choose the
following subjects: music; history; chemistry; physics; art; biology;
geography; computer sciences; literature. When you choose a specific subject,
there are a variety of materials to use:
guides, practical tips, stories, famous facts, current events, educational
games, experiments, lesson plans, photos, and other visual materials.
Google Arts & Culture, an online
platform for world art and culture, is a non-profit initiative working with
cultural institutions and artists around the world. Their mission is to
preserve and disseminate world art and culture online so that it is accessible
to everyone, everywhere. The website offers daily news.
The main challenge today is to find and
evaluate the right information according to one's needs and to synthesize the
obtained information for useful knowledge or connections. Media literacy,
together with critical thinking, reflection, and ethnic behavior, constitutes are
the core content for formatting educated
person in today's world.
